Once Upon a Time Bookstore on Tutt Street is announcing their grand opening event to be held on Sept 7. To celebrate, owner Melissa Bourdon-King has partnered with La Plume Press to host two special concerts featuring music teacher/performer and author Sherri Funk. Mrs. Funk will be introducing her new line of books entitled ‘Funkland World.’ The books feature fun songs and exotic characters such as Stanley The Walrus, Brenda the Ballerina Polar Bear and Frank the Conscientious LumberJack.

ONCE UPON A TIME BOOKSTORE has a mission is to bring owner Mellisa Bourdon-King’s love and passion for children’s literature to the Okanagan. The store carries books from newborn to Young Adult, as well as specially curated toys, games, puzzles and art supplies. The aim is to foster community through hosting events at the store, bringing Canadian and international authors to our beautiful town of Kelowna, and inspire a sense of joy for a continued thriving neighbourhood.

FUNKLAND WORLD is the creative vision of Sherri Funk and well known Kelowna painter and illustrator Dave Watland. A fusion of real life and imaginary, the characters of Funkland World are delightful, eccentric, and exotic. Through books, songs, and other media, kids learn about important things like good hygiene, being yourself, the importance of good friends and even forest sustainability!

The grand opening event will be held at Once Upon a Time’s store location at 2795 Tutt Street. Store opens at 9:30 and closes at 5 pm The stores phone number is 250 980 1130.

The Funkland World concerts will be held at 11:AM and 1 PM and will last approximately ½ hour. Sherri Funk will also be holding a book signing.
