Calgary Stampede goes Sweet 'n Sassy

Stampede Week in Calgary will be Sweet ‘n Sassy this year, with BC’s popular Hellish Relish as a feature in Calgary Stampede VIP lounges from July 5 to 14. A sweet chili condiment paired with meats, cheeses and wine, Hellish Relish is produced by Heather Bottoms of Vernon-area “She Devil Delightsâ€.
The She-Devil is widely distributed across British Columbia, and has already gained a sweet ‘n sassy reputation in Alberta.
“We shipped more than 900 pounds of bulk Hellish Relish to Calgary Stampede for use on all charcuterie boards in the VIP lounges,†says She-Devil Heather Bottoms.
For the casual folks, Winfield-based “Wrap Daddy†will also feature Hellish Relish on his fresh-food trucks. “Stop by and say Hiâ€, says Bottoms. “We’re right beside the Coca Cola Stage, a great location with lots of live musicâ€.
When Stampede wraps up, She Devil Delights has been selected by Calgary Co-op for their “Best from of the West†promotion featured in all 26 locations from July 18 to August 16.
Hellish Relish is also featured in the latest edition of Culinaire, a Canada-wide publication who writes “Hellish Relish sounds scary doesn’t it? It’s Sweet, Sassy and a little bad-assy! Made with organic Okanagan chillies, apple cider vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, and salt; the relish is gluten-, preservative- and GMO- free. It’s vegan-friendly, and we love it as it’s SO tasty on …… pretty much everything!â€
From humble beginnings as an individual with Grandma’s secret recipe in a carport converted to a commercial kitchen, She Devil Delights is distributed in local farm markets and big-chain grocery outlets across British Columbia.
Heather has made great personal strides during the past three years. She was acclaimed 2018 “Solopreneur of the Year†by Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce, and was appointed to the Board of Directors by Small Scale Food Processors in 2019.
“You wear a lot of hats as a single entrepreneur, and take on a lot of new challenges when you start out in the food industry, “says Bottoms. One of those hats will be a ten-gallon Stetson during the upcoming weeks!
