“Up To The Challenge†- Ground Breaking Event
Nov 7, 2017
Adult and Teen Challenge steps forward with members of the community to counter growing fentanyl epidemic; facility expansion in the works.
Adult and Teen Challenge Society of British Columbia is partnering with members of the community to take action against the disturbing fentanyl crisis, which is terrifying families across the country. Facing twice the number of overdose deaths over this time last year, this problem has crossed the typical demographic and now threatens to leave its ugly mark across all levels of our community - even our school and universities. Adult and Teen Challenge is hosting municipal and provincial leaders - James Baker and Gail Givens, to name a few - at a round table discussion. Business leaders, government officials, members of our faith community, and parents who have lost children to the crisis (Helen Jennens from Mothers Stop the Harm) will meet to discuss solutions to the crisis.
The event, which begins at 1:30pm on November 9th, 2017, will open with a quick discussion on how the epidemic has after our respective areas of interest and will be followed by an outline of what Adult and Teen Challenge is doing to combat this frightening concern. At 2:00pm we will be heading out to the “golden shovel eventâ€; during which our municipal leaders and partners will don white hardhats and stand together in a show of solidarity, as the concrete begins to pour into a new foundation for an expansion at the Adult and Teen Challenge facility. This expansion will create more bed space for at-risk individuals struggling with addiction in our community.
