Peachland Flood Party & Movie Night

Jul 24, 2017

Peachland Flood Party & Movie Night Press Release July 24, 2017

PEACHLAND PARTY & MOONLIGHT MOVIE THIS WEEKEND

It’s starting to look like a normal summer after all in Peachland. After high water levels and flooding, and smoke that plagued the community, there is a reason to celebrate. The City of Peachland has decided to thank all the residents, volunteers, workers (be it city, regional, or provincial.) These fine folks and residents made a huge different in keeping Peachland from being far worse than it was during the flooding. Mayor Cindy Fortin stated that the After the Flood Celebration is not only to say thank you for your patience during this time on Beach Avenue and our shoreline, but also to recognize those who came to our aid. The party includes a free BBQ, (served by our friends from the Peachland Lions Club) refreshments, and a special tribute with guests speaking all starting at 4pm. There will be a special banner in which residents can sign, and say thanks. The Celebration continues with kid’s activities, water slide, dunk tank (Mayor rumored to be in there) face painting, and games for the kids from the Boys & Girls Club. Music entertainment featuring a country and western band that hails from Chilliwack, BC kicks off at 6:30pm. Dion Westbrook & the Unbranded take the stage to warm up the crowd, before the feature movie “A Dog Purpose” hits the big screen at dusk. It a true family event, for adults and kids alike, says Patricia Barrows from the Boys & Girls Club in Peachland. We use this signature event to raise funds for much needed supplies and equipment in providing out kids programs throughout the year. Donations at the event is welcomed and greatly appreciated. The Peachland Boys & Girls Club is also raffling off two roundtrip tickets for two where Westjet flies. Tickets are $20.00 (350 tickets) and available at the event, Johnson Meier Insurance or Coldwell Banker. The draw for the trip will take place right before the movie. This event is for all residents of Peachland, and our visitors. Bring your friends, family and children, and lets share a community moment this Saturday in Cousin Park and give thanks to all, and show a some community spirit in supporting the Boys & Girls Club in Peachland. The Event is at Cousins Park on Beach Avenue next to the Visitor Center, 4pm to 11pm on Saturday July 29, 2017.
