Vibrant Wine and Packaging Garner International Acclaim

January 6, 2014 (Kelowna, British Columbia) – A small, family run winery in Kelowna, The Vibrant Vine, has garnered international acclaim at the 2014 World Beverage Competition, Geneva, Switzerland, securing two awards including Platinum “Best of Show” (White Wine) and a Bronze medal for packaging.

Okanagan Villa Estate Winery and The Vibrant Vine Tasting Room, located in East Kelowna is home to Canada’s most artful wine bottles -signature items that resonate across the winery’s entire brand with its focus on wine, art, music and fun.

In collaboration with TricorBraun, The Vibrant Vine’s supplier of glass bottles, the winery participated in the 2013 World Beverage Competition “Packaging of the Year Awards” to win a Silver medal for their spectacular Chardonnay label.

Now, as announced in Geneva on January 2, 2014, The Vibrant Vine’s 2012 OOPS? wine, an estate blend of five white varietals, has won not only a Bronze medal for packaging at the 2014 competition but also secured the coveted Platinum “Best of Show” medal in the category of white wine. This was The Vibrant Vine’s first year of participating in the World Wines Competition.

The 2014 World Beverage Competition (www.beveragecompetition.com) boasts more than 10,000 entrants and has been organized by the World Trade Organization since 1991.The Vibrant Vine is the first Canadian winery to win a Platinum medal at the World Wines Competition. Runners up in the white wine category included wines from Argentina and France.

“This is an incredible honour,” comment Proprietors Wyn and Marion Lewis. “To be recognized at the world’s largest beverage competition alongside our peers from top wine-producers around the world is not only exciting but also inspiring for our entire team at the winery, particularly those who labour intensely through the Winter to hand-dip each and every wine bottle in its 3D art shrink-wrap package!” The award news is timely since the winery is in the middle of a significant expansion to double the tasting room capacity for what has become a ‘must visit’ winery. The Vibrant Vine, only in its fourth year, is the highest rated winery in British Columbia on Trip Advisor and attracts a significant number of Canadian and international visitors who come for the unique blend of art, music and wine.

“For us, the winery is truly a family affair and reflects not only our intense sense of fun – after all the OOPS? labels were put on upside down! - but also our passion for art and music,” says Marion. “We are incredibly proud of our son Tony who led the winemaking team, and son Phil whose 3D art is on the packaging. The whole experience of our wines and our art, along with our summer music series and live theatre, has captured the attention of thousands of visitors. We like to think ..we really are different....3D glasses and all! And now we’re growing our wine shop to accommodate a few more fans and to make room for the 2014 vintage of WOOPS?, a name change to signify white wine and a little bit a ‘woo-who’ to recognize the recent success of the 2013 OOPS? label.”

Okanagan Villa Estate Winery and The Vibrant Vine Tasting Room, a family owned boutique winery located in East Kelowna, is home to the world’s only 3D tasting room. The winery experience includes 3D art, live music and live theatre. The vineyards surrounding the winery are planted with Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc.
