The Black Cat Comes Back & Announces New Vintage Theatre’s Third Season

New Vintage Theatre is betting on “three times is a charm” with their upcoming season which will be announced at their second Black Cat Cabaret this Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb.7 at The Black Box Theatre.

This year’s event still has the French Cabaret flair, but it is now set in New Orleans and has a dark jazzy feel and is directed by Christine Daley. The cabaret nights feature the talents of many New Vintage artists including: Kendra Hesketh, Brad Hull, Doug Brown, Aletha Currie, Joe Welton, Graham Daley, Gillianne Richards, Brock Gratz, Bailey Strand, Brittney Seymour, Gloria Poulette, Sheila Campbell, Ashley Plomp, Hillary Omoe, Cory Armour in scenes and songs. Local musician extraordinaire Leila Neverland will also perform and the event is hosted by Doug Brown and New Vintage Artistic Director Bonnie Gratz. New plays by Okanagan dramatists Jeff Samin, Deb Nicholson, Christine Daley, Bonnie Gratz and Logan Albert Mullin will be featured and will vie for the audiences’ attention in the coveted Black Cat Cup. Winners will receive a cash prize and a kitschy trophy should the audience vote their play number one.

In addition to the amazing line up of entertainment that showcases the best of the best in Kelowna, the night serves as an opportunity for New Vintage to announce their new season of plays, aptly titled “Theatre With Benefits”. There will be door prizes for all who dress in black (2x the entries if you dress in black cat) and there is a sensational silent auction will everything from signed items from New Vintage Honorary Members Sir Anthony Hopkins and Julia Stiles to the opportunity to draw with Stephan Franck- the story animator behind Despicable Me at their upcoming KFX. There is over $5000 worth of items up for the bidding. All proceeds from the event go to bolster the company as they launch into another ground breaking season.
