VICTIM AND SURVIVORS OF CRIME WEEK MAY 14 TO 20:
THE POWER OF COLLABORATION – CREATING NEW STORIES TOGETHER
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: THE HONOURABLE JODY WILSON-RAYBOULD

Lillooet, BC – The Lillooet Friendship Centre Society and its partner organizations will present a week-long series of events in support of Victims and Survivors of Crime from May 15 to May 19.

Respectful Relations Training, a five-day program that helps people manage their emotions and behaviour and increase their problem-solving skills will be offered by Rose Miller, a well-respected Elder whose connection to the community goes back to the days of the Kamloops Residential School. Respectful Relations Training happens at Ucwalmicw Centre, T’it’qet Spiritual Centre, Monday through Friday 9am-4pm.

Each day from 2-4pm offers seminars focussed on individual concerns: Cyber Fraud, Elder Safety, a panel discussion on Restorative Justice and an informational workshop on Indigenous Court and Lillooet Indigenous Court. These sessions will be held in the Lillooet Recreation Centre in the Mezzanine.

The week will reach its high point with a Community Session on The Power of Collaboration – Creating New Stories Together on Friday evening, featuring a keynote speech by The Honorable Jody Wilson-Raybould, a community dinner based on tradition foodstuffs of the area and a facilitated community discussion entitled “Vital Conversations”. This last evening will be held in the Lillooet Recreation Centre Gym from 2 to 8:30pm.

COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS INCLUDE LYTTON RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAM, T’IT’QET ST’AT’IMC COMMUNITY, RCMP, ST’AT’IMC TRIBAL POLICE, HUB – VOLUNTEER CONNECT, LILLOOET AREA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION, SQUAMISH LILLOOET REGIONAL DISTRICT AND THE DISTRICT OF LILLOOET.
