As the war in Ukraine rages on, the plight of the Ukrainians is slipping further and further from our minds as we focus on our own needs closer to home. Kelowna Stands with Ukraine continues to keep Ukraine at the front and centre of our minds and hearts through various community events and fundraisers.

Kelowna Stands with Ukraine is a local group of committed citizens determined to do their part to stand against the war in Ukraine. The organization has raised money through fundraising and local sponsors, assisted many families arriving from Ukraine, and sent medical and tactical supplies directly to Ukraine

The focus of Kelowna Stands with Ukraine continues to adjust to the shifting needs of Ukrainians at home and abroad. With families arriving daily in the Okanagan, Kelowna Stands with Ukraine is offering English language courses, assistance with obtaining accommodations, and guidance about accessing local services. Currently, there is a high need for basic household items as many people forced to abruptly flee their homes have only been able to bring the bare minimum.

As part of their fundraising efforts, Kelowna Stands with Ukraine is hosting a massive Yard Sale on Saturday July 9 from 8:30 AM until 2:00 at 1935 Barlee Road (located close to Orchard Park Mall). There will be something for everyone including household décor, kitchenware, clothing, toys, and so much more. Family fun and food items include children's face painting, Kubi on a bun, and frozen pierogies and cabbage rolls for purchase. All of the proceeds from the sale go towards providing much-needed assistance to displaced Ukrainians settling in the Okanagan who are just starting to rebuild their lives. In a humanitarian crisis of this magnitude, we need all hands on deck. Let’s all do our part to support this great cause.
