CELEBRATE THE LONG WEEKEND WITH PANACHE
Bonsai Bagels offers jazz, wine and afternoon delights

The Montreal-style bagel company Bonsai Bagels, is celebrating their grand opening during the May long weekend. With this fete, baker Loren Letourneau, is giving back to the community that supported Bonsai’s early days during the COVID winter.

“We are excited to open our doors wide and to welcome spring at last,” says Letourneau. “With this event, we aim to bring some “joie de vivre” to our neighbourhood by hosting the Green Dragon Jazz Trio and selling artisanal bagels, in-house made cream cheeses and local beer and wine.”

Letourneau adds, that weather permitting, the event will expand into the parking lot and turn into a full-on block party with face-painting, games and door-prizes. “Bring your own lawn chairs,” he says.

Bonsai Bagels specializes in making bagels that are famous in Eastern Canada for their chewy consistency, irregular shape and slightly sweet taste. According to Letourneau, once you’ve tasted a Montreal-style bagel, there may be no going back to a mass-produced one.

Bonsai Bagels is owned and run by Letourneau and his wife Marisol in the former Tita’s Italian Bistro building. Letourneau is thankful to his repeat customers and to the local businesses that have brought his product on board to elevate their baked offerings.

After all, “elevating the everyday” is the motto of Bonsai Bagels.
