Inn from the Cold Kelowna Fundraising Shopping Cart Race Event, Kelowna
Set for June 14th, 2014—PUSH TO END HOMELESSNESS Fundraising Event
Inn from the Cold PUSH TO END HOMELESSNESS Event details: On Saturday June 14th, 2014—you may find yourself in the middle of dozens of elaborately decorated shopping carts, whizzing through the downtown core. The 3rdAnnual Arthur Cottie Memorial PUSH TO END HOMELESSNESS event is a fundraiser for local charity Inn from the Cold—Kelowna (IFTC). This is an ‘Amazing Race’ style fundraising event that will have participants racing from the Inn from the Cold emergency shelter across town, competing in various tasks and challenges along the way; ending in a BBQ, with live music and prizes in Kerry Park. The objective of the PUSH TO END HOMELESSNESS fundraising event is not only to raise much needed funds for Inn from the Cold, but more importantly, to raise awareness surrounding the issues of homelessness in Kelowna.

250 448-6403. This is a fun for all fundraising event on June 14, 2014 that is a family friendly community fundraising event benefiting people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in Kelowna.
Last year the event saw 20 teams compete from various walks of life, included were church groups, corporations, university students, medical professionals, and even elementary school teams. Dayton, an elementary student participated in the PUSH TO END HOMELESSNESS fundraising event last year.
“My favourite part of the PUSH fundraising event was getting to meet all the different teams and seeing their decorated carts†recalls Dayton. “Oh, and winning passes to Atlantis Waterslides!â€
Dayton’s school team decorated their cart in their school colours with balloons, ribbons, and little stuffed mascots. Although they didn’t win for Best Decorated Cart, Dayton’s team took home the prize for raising the most money for the charity.
Dayton’s tips for winning this year’s PUSH TO END HOMELESSNESS: “Focus on the clues, so you know where you are going! And ask your friends and neighbors to sponsor your team—if you are a kid, you could make an announcement at your school to raise moneyâ€.
