IDRIS HUDSON

Idris Hudson is a steadfast advocate and activist who uses a language of visual art, fragrance and music to foster compassionate reconciliation.

His fearless approach to sharing stories caught the public attention during a 2016 TEDx Talk, ‘Consciousness Is Irreversible’, which challenges the stigma toward homeless citizens, mental illness and addiction.

Idris was invited to serve as a Grand Marshall of the 2019 Vancouver Pride Parade, an honour to the 50th Anniversary of the historic Stonewall riots that began the global LGBT rights movement. His ongoing work with the survival sex work and harm reduction communities earned him a City of Vancouver StandOUT award for Community Education.

SYLIX TRAIL GIFT STORE & GALLERY

The Syilx Trail Gift Store and Gallery is at the heart of the beautiful Okanagan Valley located at Lake Okanagan Shopping Mall on Westbank First Nation lands, unceded traditional territories of the Syilx People. Newly open since February 2020, the spectacular Westbank First Nation owned showspace has already been nominated for a Greater Westside Board of Trade Award for Indigenous Business.

Syilx Trail is a diverse intergenerational sustainable community business that is interested in building relationships and partnerships with the general public at large to promote the cultural and artistic experience of our Syilx culture that we are so proud of. The artists they feature are given space to showcase their work to a larger audience, empowering creators with opportunity not often available.

TSOUL IDENTITY

‘The Symbol Of Unconditional Love’ (TSOUL) was created in 2018 by Canadian Indigenous Artist Idris Hudson. The TSOUL logo is an interpretive piece to provoke conversation and challenge systemic oppression. This identifier can be found on a variety of artworks, clothing, fragrances and jewelry which support Indigenous / POC / LGBT youth-at-risk.

TOURING COLLECTION

The touring collection introduces the art of laser acrylic embedded in metallic epoxy resin and natural fibres. These contemporary techniques have been applied to canvas, clothing & accessories. Each one of a kind piece features the signature TSOUL identity, carrying the message of reconciliation and unconditional love. A very limited small collection of original works will be available for collector purchase.

The olfactory art that Idris is most known for will be available to the public beginning October 1st, in the form of hand-blended fragrance and luxury aloe sanitizers built according to the Medicine Wheel. The TSOUL self-care line is carefully prepared using the most powerful absolute essential oils which are calmative, grounding and balancing. Cedar, sweetgrass, sage and tobacco leaf are the base for all TSOUL products, furthering the conversation of Indigenous healing in Canada.
