April 1928 – February 2020

It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Husband, Dad & Grandpa, who peacefully passed away on February 21, 2020 at the age of 91.

Art is survived by his loving wife Joyce of 65 years, daughter Deb (Jim) Schlapbach, son Darcy (Rhonda) Zimmerman. Art will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: BJ Hill, Andy (Anisty) Hill, Leah (Luke) Shoesmith, Garett (Kourtney) Brisbourne, Ryan (Jamie) Schlapbach, Tyler (Nikki) Schlapbach, Derek Schlapbach (Deb), Great Grandchildren: Peyton, Ava, Adaya, Sydney, Vivian, Becca, Alicia, Eleanor, Marcus and Micheal.

Art is survived by his Sister Mary Motley (Calgary), Brother-in-law Richard Brunt (Kelowna), Sister-in-law Barb Munro (Grande Prairie), Sister-in-law Em Zimmerman (Calgary), Brother-in-law Art Schuck (Abbotsford). Predeceased by his Brothers Rudy, Harry, Sisters Lil and Clara, Sister-in-law Gladys, Brother and Sister-in-laws George and Loreen Brunt.

Art was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.

Arts family was his World! His love for the outdoors and passion for snowmobiling enabled him to ride to the age of 85. Dad was our MacGyver, there was nothing he couldn’t fix or repair. He was a special man of honor, trust, integrity and had a great sense of humour, Dad was loved by all who knew him. In keeping with his wishes there will be no memorial service.

A special thanks to Dr. Joshua and extended thanks to all the Doctors and Nursing staff at KGH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Arts memory.
