YOUNG (WARMAN), Wendy

YOUNG (WARMAN), Wendy

It’s with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one Wendy Young (Warman) after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She passed with family by her side June 5th in Kelowna BC. Wendy is predeceased by her grandson Kayden, brothers George (Yvonne) Grant & nephew David. She is survived by sisters Laural and Yvonne, nieces Marni (Bob), Lorinda, Heather (Marrisa) and nephew Nick (Katherine) and many other nieces and nephews. Wendy also leaves behind her best friend Ian, daughter Katrina (Jake) and her granddaughter Shaelyn, who was the light of her life.

Wendy spent over fifty years making others look and feel good and was in the industry so long that she saw styles come back around a few times! An artist at heart, she enjoyed painting and drawing and spent many hours teaching others. She had a crazy sense of humour and when she got laughing (usually at something none of us found funny) she would laugh until tears ran down her face. I’m not sure if she ever knew we were laughing because of her and not the joke she told!

While she lived in Kelowna for the last 18 years, the Sunshine Coast was, and is, always home for her. She will be returned to the coast so she can forever overlook the ocean.

Wendy had only a few wishes at the end, no funeral, make sure her granddaughter knows she can do anything with her watching over her and that if even one person quit smoking in her honour it would make her happy.

We would like to give a huge, heartfelt thank you to every single person at Hospice House. A truly amazing place with the best people providing care. Also thank you to her clients and friends and family who have reached out with their stories of how much Wendy meant to them. They warm our hearts

    Dear Katrina,
    I am so sorry to hear about your mom, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I will always remember how happy I was to work for her when I turned 18. She was such an amazing boss and so very generous. Every year she took us out for dinner at Christmas and once even to a play afterwards. She would give us gifts at Christmas and for other holidays too!  I remember how happy she was to do my hair for my prom. I am so happy I stopped by the salon to see her just before she moved. I will always remember her kindness and the wonderful times I had working for her. She was a special person and I am so glad I met her.

    I was a client of Wendys for many years and she was a big part of the wedding shows we did together. She was a great friend and listener offering much great advice. I will miss her.

    To Wendy's family;
    I send my condolences to you on the death of Wendy.
    I was a neighour next door and was so blessed to enjoy her wonderful flowers that she planted and cared for so faithfully until they were a wonderful blaze of colour,
    enjoyed by so many in our complex. She was so proud of her family.
    God be with you all. She will be missed.

    Katrina and Shae, I am sorry for the loss of your mother and grandmother respectively. There is no doubt her angel will stay by our sides, wherever we are. She was a truly remarkable lady. I am sad that she is no longer amongst us. Strongest angel up there, I bet!
    Love Anna

She extended herself to so many people and they cherished knowing her - she warmed many hearts in times of need, looking for ways to make things better. She was a strong mentor to so many and I am proud of how she contributed.
    Love's last gift is remembrance - I look forward to sharing memories of the "Wendy" stories with family.

    My condolences go out to you and your family. She was more than a sister in law to me, but a real sister in the true sense. She will be happy to be in the spiritual arms of her brothers Grant and George who went before her, brother Tom, her Mom and Dad We who are left behind. Sister Laural, myself and all nieces and nephews will be sharing many "Wendy" stories for a long time to come. May Eternal Light shine upon her and grant her peace
