WEEKS, Catherine Bell

WEEKS, Catherine Bell

WEEKS: Catherine Bell , November 4, 1920 – December 20, 2021 passed away peacefully in Kelowna at the age of 101 years, the last of the Newcomb siblings. Predeceased by her devoted husband Edward in 2011, and precious daughter Patricia Ann. Catherine is survived by her four children, Lawrence, Cathie, Roland (Carrie), Murray (Susan) plus her many cherished grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

It has been somewhat fitting that Mom chose to leave us during the Christmas season as she provided so many great Christmas’s and wonderful memories over the years. Born in Maine USA her family made two trips back and forth from the Maritimes to British Columbia during the 20’s and 30’s. After finally settling in B.C., she and Dad met while working for Boeing at their Richmond facility during the war. Several years after WW2 they moved back to Dad’s home town “Kelowna” to raise their family. Between cooking, baking and looking after kids Mom ran the orchards in Okanagan Mission and Lakeview Heights while Dad worked construction during the day.

In retirement Mom enjoyed many years gardening, walking, traveling and spending time with family.

Catherine, “Kay” Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma was a content and gentle sole, her friends and family will miss her dearly.

Rest in peace Mom.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful folks at Cottonwoods Care Home where she was so well looked after for the past few years.

Private funeral arrangements will be made as per Mom’s request.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice in memory of Catherine.

To the Weeks family, We are so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Kay was a lovely lady and she and your Dad were long time friends of the Smith family back to Boeings during the war. We shared many good times over the years and have fond memories of going on bus tours together and meeting for coffee . She will be dearly missed.

Roland, Murray and Families, saddened to hear of the passing of your amazing mother. Your parents were gentle and soft spoken, always ready to lend a helping hand and quick smile. Paul and I spent many hours riding our motorbikes with you in the orchard, your mom always on the lookout, watching and listening if we were ok.
May your memories of her be a wonderful reminder of a great legacy she left for you to carry on in your own families.

Murray, Roland and family, my heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family. She was a great lady and always welcomed me into your home. I still have your mom‘s waffle syrup recipe and I use it to this day. It reminds me of her each time, along with all the memories of the family around the orchard. She was a hard working, loving mother and will be missed. My thoughts are with you all at this time.
