WARNER, Calvin Charles "Dennis"

WARNER, Calvin Charles

Dennis Warner passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 10, 2025, at 80 years old.

A long time resident of the Okanagan, Dennis was born in The Pas, Manitoba to loving parents Mildred “Joy” Dahl and Lenard Charles Warner. His childhood stories of polar bears on the lake were legendary.

After graduation, he moved west and fell in love with the Okanagan. He worked for years as a Forest Services Officer, surveying for roads and monitoring for fires. He knew every mountain, lake, and stream in the valley.

He was also a beautiful musician, and was well known for singing and playing guitar around a camp fire with anyone that wanted to join. You may also have known him from his years spent at the Winfield Curling Club. He enjoyed a good bonspiel.

Dennis had a passion for computers and technology. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator and an early adopter of the computer. Those skills were put to use as Crane Systems Operator at the Winfield Hiram Walkers plant till it closed in 1995. He was also heavily involved in the UAW Union, acting as local representative all over North America. After the plant closed, he worked as a Security Guard at Holiday Park Resort. He was always a night owl, and the night shift suited him perfectly.

Dennis was predeceased by his father Lenard Warner, son Gregory Warner, and his mother Joy Greasley. He is survived by his son Jeffery Warner and partner Danielle Strathopolous; his daughter Landis Graham; and grandsons Beckett and Elliott Graham. He is also survived by his sister Gwen Hornsby, her husband Wayne, their children Chris, Michelle and Jodi, and all of their children.

Condolences, photos, and memories may be sent to the family by visiting his obituary page at www.springfieldfuneralhome.com

Dennis’ ashes will join his son’s and his mother’s on Spion Kop mountain this summer. Then he will rest in peace.

VE7ASY over and out.

I remember Dennis from high school in The Pas and his parents place a block from the RCMP office where my Father was the head officer for a few years. I remember talking with him about 50 years ago when I started as a Lawyer here in Kelowna. I remember him as a really nice guy. David Mossman
