WAIT, Muriel

WAIT, Muriel

1930 - 2018
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Muriel on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the age of 87.
She was born in Calgary and raised in Blairmore, Alberta. Muriel married the love of her life George in 1953 and together they raised four children in Blairmore. In 1973 they relocated to Fort Nelson when George was transferred with Westcoast Transmission. During her time in Fort Nelson she made many friends while working with the Hudson's Bay Company. George and Muriel retired to Winfield BC in 1989.
Muriel is predeceased by her husband George, brothers Ronald Fyfe, Douglas Oliver and Kenneth Oliver. She is survived by her sister Kathleen (Bob) Doren; four children: Kevin, Heather (Phil) Stirton, Laurie, Darren (Karolyn); three grandchildren: Daniel Stirton, Shawn Wait and Bryann Leader (Julian) and four great-grandchildren: Darien, Kalysten, Dawson and Jaymin as well as many nieces and nephews.
Muriel loved road trips to visit family in Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, Prince George and Cobble Hill, BC. She would often go for an extended stay in each of these places, calling each place home.
Muriel will be remembered for her positive attitude and cheerful optimism. She was always generous and ready to entertain visitors. Muriel was involved with the Daughters of the Nile in Kelowna and enjoyed getting together with the ladies.
Muriel loved to knit, do crosswords, word searches and card games. Later in life she had difficulty with her eyesight which precluded her doing some of these hobbies.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home Family Centre, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Children
