VICKERS, Marlene Lois

A Celebration of Life to honour Marlene will be held on TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2022, at 1:30 PM, at the KELOWNA YACHT CLUB, 1370 Water St, Kelowna, BC

December 30, 1935 - February 28, 2022

Marlene passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on February 28, 2022, at the age of 86.

Marlene, a longtime resident of Kelowna, was born in Arborfield SK. After Marlene graduated from high school She took a teaching position in Mafeking SK. She received some training and shortly thereafter began her career as a legal secretary. She eventually moved to Penticton BC where she met the love of her life and married Allen. Marlene was very dedicated to her family and was always involved in the community in many different ways throughout the years. You could find her at almost everything from school and athletic programs, to volunteering at the Blood Donor Clinic. Marlene and Allen had many traveling adventures over the years, but put down winter roots in Palm Springs where they joined many of their Canadian friends as well as embraced many new American friends. Her kind, gentle and caring manner definitely left a lasting impression on all who knew her. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the caregivers at Hawthorn Park and Orchard Manor for the endless support, care, and kindness you gave Marlene, and a special thank you to Crystal.

Marlene is survived by her children: son Rob (Marlene), and daughter Diana (Cameron); seven grandchildren Malia, Alexis, Baillie, Dustin, Greg (Robyn), Bradley (Jess), and Kristen (Jordan); five great-grandchildren Myla, Blake, Bobby, Jaxon, and Avlee, and another soon to join the family in May. She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law Kay and Gloria, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marlene was predeceased by her husband Allen who passed in 2016, her brother Ron and her sister-in-law Dorothy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, bccancerfoundation.com, or the Alzheimer Society of BC, alzheimer.ca/bc.
