March 21, 1931 - July 20, 2021

It is with sadness, we announce the passing of Frank Xavier Singer Jr. on July 20, 2021, at the age of 90 years. Frank was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Dilys in 2015 and his parents Frank Xavier Singer and Maria Singer (Bavarian emigrants in the late 1920s). He will be missed by extended family, nieces, nephews and friends.

Frank was born in the Belgo district of Rutland, BC on March 21, 1931, and spent most of his life in his orchards in Glenmore and Lakeview Heights West Kelowna.
His innovative and progressive farming practices were recognized throughout the community. Frank was an original charter member of the WB Lions club and a board member of BC Tree Fruits. He was an advocate for the establishment of the Lakeview irrigation and the building of the Rose Valley reservoir. Frank became a developer and a business owner of multifamily, industrial and commercial complexes. His business acumen extended into cabinet manufacturing and the well-known Shady Rest fish and chip shop. His philanthropy extended to the Salvation Army, Kelowna General hospital and other causes.

To the Singer family my condolences on your loss. Frank gave me my first job at about 13 years of age. I helped my Dad Dave Mussell, who worked for Frank in his construction industry and his rental housing market.

A great honest up front guy. May he RIP.

    Dear Family and friends.

I wanted to say how sad it was to hear of Mr Singer’s passing. My Dad went to Westbank Lions Club with him for years. We spent time at their cottage at Casa Loma. I remember he taught me how to water ski at 10 years of age. I loved water skiing for many years. Our whole family enjoyed time at the cottage and Lion events. He was such a kind person him and his wife was too. Our family sends our sympathy, thoughts and prayers. Jim, Brenda, John and Mary-Ellen Clarke.

We are sad to hear of Frank's passing. Frank was always friendly, generous and a gentleman. He took the time to talk to us even though we were just young teens. We have many good memories of the fun times at mom & dad's house, the beach lot and also when we visited Frank & Dil's Casa Loma lake cottage. A special memory was the 4 of them taking off in Frank's new white convertible (red leather interior) with mom & Dil in the back seat hanging onto their scarves and trying not to get too wind blown. Frank was so proud of that car. Years later they were at our wedding and the home movies show them having a great time. After I retired we went out for lunch and it was great to catch up and see them again. Hugs from Judy (nee Malen) & Ken Miletto
