March 5, 1941 – March 24, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria on March 24, 2021, at the age of 80. She was born March 5, 1941, to Paul and Caroline Sicinski in Birtle, Manitoba. Victoria grew up in the district of Birtle, Manitoba. She met the love of her life John Hetter in 1957 and married him on November 26, 1960. They moved to R.M. of Boulton, Manitoba, and then in 1972 they moved to Russell, Manitoba, and finally they moved to Kelowna, BC in 1979, where she enjoyed family and friends until her final day.

Victoria and John were blessed with a family of 5 children. 4 daughters and 1 son: Donalda (Fred) of Russell, MB; Angela (Brian), of Kelowna, BC; Jack (Dorothy), of Canmore AB; Joan (Richard) of Kelowna, BC; and Michelle (John) of Kelowna, BC. They were also blessed with 7 grandchildren: Jim (Krista), Michael (Tanya), Rachelle (Devon), Travis (Lyss), Lyndsey (Russ), Karli (Chris), and Landon; then 9 great-grandchildren: Josh, Ryder, Tristan, Théa, Sophie, Colton, Quinn, Lacey, and Emma.

Victoria was predeceased by her husband John, her parents Paul and Caroline, as well as her sister Anne Kowal and brother Lawrence Sicinski.

Victoria enjoyed the outdoors. She loved working in her gardens, both vegetable and flower. She loved going camping, fishing, and snowmobiling. She was also ready to play cards with anyone willing to play. She also enjoyed playing bingo and liked it even better when she won. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and if you ever stopped to see her, she could have a full-course meal on the table in no time. She will be remembered for her perogies.

Victoria enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her big heart and the smile that was always on her face. She will be dearly missed by all.

The family would like to thank her family doctor, Dr. Thomson; her cancer Doctors, Dr. Rao and Dr. Mohamed; and all the staff at Kelowna General Hospital and on the palliative ward at Brookhaven Care Centre.

    To the entire Hetter Family:

I was so sad to hear about Vicki’s (Baba’s) passing. So many years ago, your entire family welcomed Steve, Devon, Dallas and I into your lives. Vicki always had the ability to make you feel like you were one of the family. She was like a surrogate grandma for my children, she taught me how to make perogies, she was a hell of a fisherman, all the ladies from the BC Tel fishing derby loved it when she was there, she was a big practical joker and she shared so much love and wisdom with anyone who would listen. As a young parent back then, I valued all that she told me. I loved the relationship she had with John (Gido) and all the time they spent with their family. The devotion she had for all her children and grandchildren was obvious, she was always so proud of each of them. Vicki also had a huge respect for her son and daughter in laws. She wasn’t scared to speak her mind, but she was humble when she did it. This loss is felt by so many of us but anyone who knew her was lucky to have crossed paths with her. She is now with John and she is going to be a guardian angel for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thank you, Baba, for letting us be part of your family. We love you and will miss you.

I am so sad to hear about her passing. She was the sweetest lady. The last time I saw her was a few days before her birthday and she asked me to come back for tea and cake. It made my day. She quickly gained a special place in my heart in the little time I was lucky to know her.
