November 9, 1944 - November 27, 2017
Bibiane Juliette Marie Tarasiuk (nee Ouellette) of Westbank BC, age 73, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends November 27th 2017 at 4:49 pm in Kelowna, BC. Babs is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Nick, loving daughter Nicole, precious granddaughter Rayne (Brent), favourite nephew Paul, her brothers and sisters, extensive family, and dear friends.
She was born on November 9th 1944 to Adelard and Helene Ouellette in Vegreville, Alberta. She is the baby of the family, the youngest of eight children, including: Jean Marie, Roger (Barbara), Giselle, Lucille, Gerald (Gloria), Fernand (Doris), Andre (Helena). Babs was predeceased by her oldest brother Jean Marie, and her son, Dean.
Babs attended Reeves Business College in Lloydminster, Alberta, where she met her future husband Nick Tarasiuk. They married May 22nd 1965 and had two children, Nicole and Dean. Babs began her career in Lloydminster, SK, acting as a secretary for the Fire Chief, Mayor and City manager. After moving to BC she embarked on a long and successful career working with BC Hydro, BC Gas, Terasen Gas, and Fortis, retiring from her job in 2009.
Throughout her life, Babs had a passion for learning, and took many courses and studies for work and pleasure. For over forty years she volunteered with Search and Rescue and CASARA, putting in countless hours working tirelessly behind the scenes. She also volunteered for several decades with The Girl Guides of Canada, an organization that deeply appreciated all of her talents. She lived a long life of service, always ready and willing to do what needed to be done. She was the first to lend a hand, and often the last to leave. Babs enjoyed doing complex and challenging genealogical research, mapping her family history back many generations. She enjoyed long walks with her husband, travel to warm locations, adventuring with her granddaughter Rayne, quilting, cross stitching, cooking amazing family meals, gardening and reading a good book. Her incredible sense of humour, generous nature, fierce love for her family, creativity, and perseverance in the face of every challenge inspired many and will continue to encourage us throughout our lifetimes.
