SZITA, Peggy (Piroska)

SZITA, Peggy (Piroska)

Szita, Peggy (Piroska)

We are sad to announce that Peggy passed away on Monday January 24th 2022. She was 95 years old.

Peggy will be missed by her son James (Carole), daughter Julie, grandchildren Antoine, Julien, Michael, Natalie (Jonathan) and extended family. Peggy was pre-deceased by her husband Andrew. Peggy was born in Hungary in 1926. She worked as a nanny for a aristocratic family, with whom she fled Hungary and spent a few years as a refugee in Germany and Italy. She then immigrated to Canada (Montreal) and became a Canadian citizen in 1958 and met her husband. Peggy moved to Lake Country in 1990 with her son James and family. Peggy had a deep love of children and loved spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren. She was a hard worker and loved living and helping on the farm.

Thank you to all staff at Spring Valley care home for the excellent care she received in the last 5 years.

A private family gathering will be held. For those wishing to honour Peggy’s memory, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of British Columbia.

I am sad to hear of this loss the family has suffered. I came across this obituary today, May 21/2022, as I was searching for the family name Szitha, which was my mother's maiden name. She originated from Ibrany. I am not sure if the name is your mother's by marriage or some other way. I send respects to namesake and her offspring. (Eva Kovacs, Toronto)

Sorry to hear of your mum's passing. I don't think I ever met her up close, but would see her many a time as I passed your place on Goldie Rd. and she always seemed to enjoy 'puttering' out there in the garden. May she rest in peace. Tessa McDonnell van Roechoudt.
