STUYT, Penny (Penelope) Marie

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt, a long time resident of North Fork Road, Cherryville, B.C. Penny Stuyt died unexpectedly from a severe illness at her home in Cherryville, B.C. Predeceased by her Father (Stanley Baker), Mother (Nancy/Xanthe) of South Slocan, B.C.

Penny is survived by her husband Pieter Stuyt, her brothers Peter Baker of North Vancouver and David (Brenda) Baker of Millarville, Alberta as well as her daughters Margaret (Cary) Benson of Enderby, B.C., Marci-Lynn (Shawn) Gilarowski of Ottawa, Ontario, step-daughter Angel Gotzy (Lance) of Nelson, B.C. and step-sons Mark (Sharka) Stuyt of North Vancouver, Shawn Stuyt of Terrace, B.C., Scott Stuyt of Surrey, B.C. and Guy Stuyt of Kaslo, B.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren Allashua Gilarowski, Aiden Benson, Lucas, Kylan, and Amber Stuyt, and Ella and Alex Gotzy.

Penny arrived in Cherryville in the late 1970’s accompanied by her husband Pieter looking for their bit of paradise. Penny soon found work helping the many small businesses in the area with their bookkeeping and accounting needs as Monashee Accounting Services. After a short sojourn in the Richlands area, Penny and Pieter soon moved to their property on North Fork road above Cherry Creek. Pieter found work as a carpenter and between jobs began slowly converting the old log cabin into a modern dream home with ample space for their daughter Margaret, Penny’s office, and their many friends and family who came to stay.

Penny was always active with the community and often volunteered her services. She made life long friends amongst her clients and the rest of the community. Penny was always up for a conversation, a coffee, or a lunch with friends.

Penny never tired of the peace and beauty that she Piete found along Cherry Creek. She will be missed by her husband, her family, and many, many others.

    My condolences to Penny's family. I remember Penny as a patient of ours. A lovely strong-willed woman. Penny must have had a lovely life along Cherry Creek.
