STRACHAN, Alexander

Alexander (Al) Strachan passed away on November 4, 2023 surrounded by the love of his family.

Born January 18, 1940 Al faced early challenges in life growing up in Foster homes in Toronto. At age 11 he chose to go to the farm home of Anna and Ruben Erickson. They remained close to Al and his family until their passing.

Al is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn of 62 years, his son Tim ( Denise) children Megan (Byron) and Caitlin (Ian), his daughter Shelley and children Shane and Sunny (Dan). He is also survived by his much loved 7 great grandchildren Alexis, Jace, Colton, Piper, Raphaella, Gia and Mina. Al is also survived by 2 foster brothers David Overland and Norman French.

Al was a funny man with a great sense of humour. He loved to entertain, greeting everyone with a hug and a wonderful smile. He was a dedicated volunteer at the Kelowna General Hospital (Perking Lot) and a member of the Kelowna Hospital Auxiliary. He also spent over 30 years as a proud Rotarian in Nelson, and Kelowna.

Al was in the RCAF where he became an electrician and later he was an Industrial Relations Officer for the BC Government until starting his own business as Employment Standards Specialist. He made many friends throughout his life at work, volunteering and Rotary.

Al's service will held at the Kelowna Unitarian Church, 1310 Bertram Street, Kelowna at 1 PM Monday November 27th, 2023.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice House, Kelowna

    I was so sorry to hear of Al's passing. I was telling Judy that one of my fondest memories at CVE was the July 1st party you both organized back in the day.     Marilyn and family...so sad to lose such a great man. Hard to believe he is gone. Our times at KGH were so memorable and such fun....our monthly "dinner dates" in our corners...the laughs were nonstop....so enjoyable. How we will miss him...our "Mr.Z".
