SPOLJARIC (BARCLAY), Gillian Kathleen

SPOLJARIC (BARCLAY), Gillian Kathleen

It is with heartfelt sadness we say goodbye to our Gillian who passed away at the age of 71 years on June 22, 2018 in Abbotsford, B.C.

The eldest daughter of W.P. (Peter) and Annetta Barclay, Gill was born on March 28, 1947 in Vancouver, B.C. One year later, the family moved to Kelowna where they settled by the lake at Cedar Creek and enjoyed a life in the country. In 1970 Gill married Nick Spoljaric and gave birth to her beloved daughter, Kathy. In her later years, Gill moved from Kelowna to the lower mainland. She lived with her daughter and family where she received their tireless care and support. Her grandsons were her steadfast champions.

Gill was an avid and accomplished horsewoman who spent much of her young life riding her spirited horse Blaze through the surrounding hills and entering equestrian events at the Kelowna Riding Club. Gill

My thoughts are with Gill's family and friends as they grieve. Gill has always been in my life, in fact, I owe her my life as she introduced my parents. Gill was kind and had a good sense of humor. She loved life and animals. She will be missed.

Susan, Leslie and your extended family,

So sorry to read of your sister's passing. We hope that you find peace in all the treasured memories you made while she was on this earth. May God bless your family as it goes through the process of letting go of someone so close. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Gill and Brian met in grade one, at Ann McClymont school in the mission and I met Gill when I was 13. Gill introduced me to Bri in '64, a day before my 15th birthday. She has always been a huge part of our life. She was the kindest, gentlest, sweetest, strongest, most loving woman we know. Her love and laughter will be in our heart forever. Through all of her years of health issues, she remained positive, and hopeful. Her dream was to have a farm with lots of rescue animals. Hilary, Brian, Dawn Maranda

Condolences to the family. I was a childhood friend and fellow horseback rider. Gill and I spent many great times riding in the hills in OK Mission. Her struggles later in life were many but she always tried to remain smiling and her relationship with God got her through.
