SIEMENS, Verna

We regret to announce that Verna Siemens, born June 30, 1929, left this earthly realm on October 7, 2017.

She is survived by her daughters Juanita Barker of Calgary, Debbie Fox, and Faye (Richard) Cundall, both of Vernon, her son Bruce Siemens (Elaine), who have recently moved to Mahood Lake, BC.

She also leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

After the passing of her husband Bill, in 1969, our mother worked for many years at Openshaws and Bennets Hardware store in downtown Vernon. Then at Henderson Drycleaners and at Bags and All and Boutique Canadiana in the Village Green Center.

Up until late 2016 she took aquafit classes at the Vernon Aquatic Center 3 times a week and bowled in 2 different leagues. Mom also volunteered at the pancake breakfast at the Halina center for many years. Mom travelled extensively after her retirement, going to Spain and Portugal, a cruise to the Panama Canal, a trip to Mazatlan, Mexico, and a trip to Cuba. She enjoyed all these trips a great deal and always came back with lots of souvenirs. For almost a year before her passing, our mother lived at Canterbury Court in Vernon where she enjoyed herself a great deal and participated in many of their activities.

She was loved by all her family and friends and she will be sorely missed. We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Deetlefs and all the nurses on the 2nd floor West of the hospital for their special care of our mother, and to the nurses and volunteers at Hospice House.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Hospice House, or a charity of your choice.
