Funeral Homes Submit ObituarySCHWAIGER, Wiltrud "Willie"

1936 - 2025
Wiltrud Schwaiger, 88, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Married to John Schwaiger for 66 years, Willie cherished her family of 5 children: Linda (Dale), Dorothy, Cathy (Colin), Susan, and Johnny (Laurie). She also treasured her 9 grandchildren: Jason (Kendall), Carl (Emi), Avery (Tyler), Brett, Chance, Carly (Andrew), Michelle "Mina", Robert, and Cole, and her 7 great-grandchildren: Aniston, Aden, Lennon, Mia, Koya, Cohen, and Lilah.
Willie emigrated from Germany in 1950 to Edmonton, AB with her parents (Carl & Anne Haas) and brothers (Robert & Elmer). Later, she moved to Winfield, BC, where she raised her family.
Besides being a wife and mother, Willie was an entrepreneur and volunteer. She was a Brownie & Girl Guide leader, and she volunteered with Gifts to Grandmas and Mission Thrift Store. Willie also ran a Tastee franchise and sold Mary Kay cosmetics. She was interested in studying the bible through the lens of different faiths. Her hobbies included sewing, curling, and dancing (she was great at it). Her greatest love was spending time with family. The bigger the gathering, the better. Willie had a great sense of humour and shared many inside jokes with her grandchildren.
Willie will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider giving to one of Willie's charities: CNIB, www.cnib.ca, and the Salvation Army, salvationarmy.ca.
A Celebration of Life, will be held on SATURDAY, MAY 31, 2025, at 4:00 PM (PDT), at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. A reception will be held following the service.
