ROTH, Alexander

ROTH, Alexander

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Alexander Roth on February 14, 2021. Alex will be dearly and deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 57 years, Nancy; his son Tim (Jette) Roth, his daughter Susan (Donald) Heinzelmann, and his grandchildren: Bryan (Kayla), Cameron (Serena), Danielle, Kevin (Paige), and Alex as well as his great granddaughter, Sofia. He is predeceased by his parents, Adam and Barbara and his sister, Trudy Lindner. Alex is survived by his brother Joe (Janet) Roth and family as well as his brother-in-law, Rudi Lindner.

Alex was born in 1943 in Mocheln, Poland. Alex had so many wonderful memories growing up and always talked about how spoiled, cared for, and loved he was as the youngest in the family. In 1953, the family immigrated to Kelowna, B.C. where Alex created and lived a very wonderful and full life. Alex raised his family with Nancy, played and coached soccer, operated Roth Stucco, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Alex was an incredibly generous man who had a way of making everyone he met feel special, heard, and seen. He strongly believed that it was best to help those in your own community first and he did this time and time again through his volunteering and random acts of kindness. We will always remember his stories and be forever impressed with his wealth of knowledge. He was an excellent Papa to all of his grandkids and we will all miss him dearly.

The family would like to thank everyone for the exceptional care they provided to Alex in his last few years and final days. A special thank you to his cousin, Lambert Schmalz and his son Al, and to Dr. McCauley.

There will be no service by request, but instead, a small family gathering to remember and honour Alex’s life.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com for the Roth family.

Our deepest sympathy Nancy to you and your family. Alex will be missed at Tim Hortons; his love of BC history shared with my husband Doug who he exchanged books with. While he was driving around Rutland, he never failed to stop for a visit on the side of the road. No matter what- he always had a smile and positive attitude. He was such a kind, gentle man with a big smile that warmed the heart.

We offer our condolences to Nancy and her family. I remember when Alex and his family came to Canada and lived in a small house off highway 33. We used to pick his family up on Sundays when going to church. Alex and his brother, Joe, started working for a Stucco contractor and it didn't take long when they branched out and started their own company. Alex was very involved with the Knights of Columbus and other charities. He will be remembered for his smile and passion for helping others.

    With sympathy,

    Tony and Sharon Ackerman

Dear Nancy, Tim, Susie and your families. Sorry to hear of Alex passing. Sharon and I send our special condolences to you with wonderful memories of our “Perth Road Gang” when our kids were little. Always enjoyed Alex’s humour and all four of you were such great neighbours. And one good memory is Alex’s fondness for little “Muffy” until she took over his favourite chair and he had to send her home with her tail between her legs. Those were such good days.

In times like this there isn’t much that friends can say or do

But our prayers go to Him whose love is ever near to you,

To ask that His sustaining power

Will carry you from hour to hour.

Our love, John and Sharon Stutters

I met Alex more than 20 years ago, when he was a regular customer at the local packinghouse fruit store where I worked as a clerk. We would also run into each other occasionally at the rink, when he would be watching his grandson play hockey. He was such a kind hearted, soft spoken man, who always talked so highly of his family. I haven't seen him in several years, however, I have never forgotten him. My sincere condolences to his family.
