ROSS, Gladys Luella

Gladys Luella Ross passed away on August 20, 2018 at the age of 87. She is survived by her sister, Jean Stewart, brothers Don (Shirley) and Ken (Barbie) Ross. She also leaves behind a large loving family of many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Bill Stewart, and nephew, David Ross.

Gladys was the first child born to George and Florence (Wilson) in Kisbey, Saskatchewan on April 16, 1931. Her first five years were spent in Saskatchewan then the Ross family left their farming community and moved to Vancouver. In 1945 the family settled in Kelowna where Gladys completed high school. In 1956, Gladys graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. Her nursing and then Public Health career was mainly in the greater Vancouver area. She also enjoyed her time nursing in Troy, Ohio, USA.

Gladys was a gentle quiet woman who enjoyed reading, music and spending time with her family. She completed Grade 9 Royal Conservatory studies in piano. At many family gatherings she played piano for the sing-a-longs.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brandts Creek Mews for the care she received.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Capri Hotel, Vintage Room, on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra.
