RITZ, Theresia

October 9, 1927 - July 24, 2022

At age 94, Theresia Ritz went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2022. Theresia was born in Karawukovo, Yugoslavia, and immigrated to Germany with her parents. Then, they all immigrated to Canada, along with Theresia's love, Frank. Once in Canada, Theresia married Frank, and so her wonderful path in life began.

Settling in Winnipeg, Theresia acquired a position in a large textile factory as Master Seamstress and Design Cutter. Due to her expertise and talents, she was bestowed with a manager position at the factory.

Then, a new bundle of joy arrived, her daughter Rosemarie. She loved life, and she was happy.

In 1958, Theresia and Frank travelled to the Okanagan; they fell in love with the landscape and weather. Frank and Theresia decided Kelowna, BC, was their "forever place to live". Frank, Theresia, her parents, and their little girl moved. They bought an orchard and careers changed. It was a hard life, but all the love brought joy. Shortly after the move to Kelowna, she received a second joy, her son Frank Jr.

Through thick and thin, Theresia never gave up - on anything. Her strong belief in God gave her the strengths she possessed. Theresia was loving, honest, kind and loved her family to all limits.

Theresia goes to join her husband, Frank Ritz; her sister Katherine Sokol; and her brother-in-law William Sokol. She leaves behind her children Rosemarie Ritz and Frank Ritz Jr. (Angela), and her grandchildren Katherine (Filip), Frank Jr. (Natsuko), and Adam. We will miss her terribly. Love never fades.

May she rest in light and peace. God loved her so. May you rest in peace, Mom.

The prayer service for Theresia is scheduled for TUESDAY, AUGUST 2, 2022, at 6:00 PM at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME (2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (839 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna, BC), with Father Cerlouie presiding.

We are truly sorry to hear of Theresa's passing. We remember the Ritz family fondly, their great wedding, in Winnipeg and their courage to move to Kelowna. The Ritz family lived their Catholic life by the book and became an example to many, I.E. Something to aim for. To you the Ritz children and grand children we say: "What a legacy to follow" ! If God has a place for us humans in Heaven, there is no doubt that this is were Theresa, Franz'l and all the Ritz's are now residing, the place they truly deserve.

My deepest condolences on the passing of your Mom. Such a sweet and kind soul she was. I looked forward to the trips she and her sister made to the office to pay their water bills, quite a pair those two, always smiling and laughing. It was always a pleasure to see them together.
