RISSO, Lorne

RISSO, Lorne

Lorne was born in Kelowna on October 29, 1943, and attended school here. Picked apples and pears in Casorso Orchards for many summers. Went to Merritt at the age of 16 and lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Myrna and Jim Walker. He worked at the mill there. He married and had two children, Todd and Murray. Due to an unfortunate accident, Murray passed away at age 8.

Lorne met Bev in 1978 and they married on May 23rd, 1981. They built a log house and had a farm on Casorso Road where they grew corn and tomatoes. Lorne worked for Riverside Forest Products (now Tolko) in Merritt for five years, then the Kelowna mill for 32. Lorne loved to go to hockey games and was an avid fisherman making many trips to Port Alberni where they kept their boat. Hunting, fishing and gardening were Lorne

I was sad to hear of Lorne's passing as I played racquetball with him and against him for many years. He and I were about equal in ability so we had many games that were always very close in scores. He was a very nice, fair and gentle person. I hope that he gets to play some games up in the heavenly kingdom where he is sure to be. My condolences to you, Bev, and to the rest of the family.

There are not enough words to describe what a respectful man Lorne was. He always had time to chat for a few minutes and always asked how our family was doing. People like Lorne are hard to come by and I am honoured to have known him for last 62 years.

He will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

    Bev and Todd,

So sorry to hear of Lorne's passing. As neighbours for many years, coached hockey together and finally becoming "relatives" when my son married Bev's niece. Was a fine fellow, always happy with a kind word. Lorne will be missed by those who knew him. Remember the good times as they will help you through the coming days. Todd, hope to see you at the store. Hugs to you both.
