RATHJEN, Ivy (Stanley)

RATHJEN, Ivy (Stanley)

Ivy (Stanley) Rathjen was born in England on June 14, 1918, and at the age 99, on August 4, 2017, she passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord, in her home at Spring Valley Care Centre, Kelowna.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, her oldest son, John, and her 5 (Stanley) siblings. Now left to lovingly remember her are: daughter Evelyn, and three sons - Jim (Sandi), Phil (Joan), Tom (Linda) ... also her 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Ivy served together with her husband, for over 45 years of pastoring churches and assisting in various Christian ministries. For countless years she blessed her family and neighbours with delicious baking and preserves! Even to her final year, she delighted in knitting, and crocheting layette-outfits sent to third-world infants.

The memorial service for Ivy will be held on Friday, August 18/17, at 11 a.m., in Evangel Church, 3261 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, B.C.

    Jim and Sandi,
Somehow this does not feel like a time of sadness! We understand the shedding of the "mortal coil", that it is inevitable. We do not grieve as others might grieve. We know the loss, but we rejoice that it is but for a short time. May we follow your mom's example, and do all we can so that others may rejoice too.
Blessings to all of you as you renew family ties and relationships, and remember this woman of God who was your mom.

Loved your mom Jim. She had a sparkle in her eye that was interesting. I loved the story you told about how God provided for her in her senior years once they had retired. Wonderful to come from such a great family ah?

Evie, Jim, Phil, Tom and families - thank you for phoning and letting me know about the passing of your mother who was a very precious family friend. I have passed the word around here in Summerland and we are all thinking of you in this time of your mother's promotion to her heavenly home. She leaves behind many precious memories and may God's comfort be yours in the days that lie ahead should He tarry. I know that you "sorrow not, as others that have no hope". God bless and comfort you now and in the days that lie ahead.

Dearest Aunty Ivy. Another amazing warrior for the unending love of God to be known in this broken world. Thanks so much for a strong and deliberate faith that has led your family well. You are hailed and celebrated before the courts of heaven as a mighty woman of faith. All my love to you dear family as we say goodbye on this earth to a beautiful soul. You all reflect her heart and commitment to the Lord in love and in worship. Big hugs. Joanna
