Funeral Homes Submit ObituaryPOYNTER, James "Jim"

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Poynter on April 1, 2025, at the age of 77. A devoted husband, father, papa, and friend, Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and lasting friendships.
Jim was the beloved husband of Cindy for 57 years. Together, they shared a life full of joy, laughter, and adventures. They enjoyed dancing, playing cards with friends, camping, and taking trips to Hawaii. Family was at the heart of everything Jim did, and weekends were often spent camping, attending BMX races, hockey games, and tournaments. He proudly supported his sons, Shawn and Matt, and loved being involved in all their activities.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Jim was known for his strong work ethic, his willingness to teach, and his ability to give others a chance to succeed. Over the years, many of his customers and employees became lifelong friends. Jim was also a natural salesman who loved to talk, get to know people, and find a good bargain. If something needed to be done, Jim was the person to call.
Jim had a great love for life’s simple pleasures, including Cindy’s cooking, breakfast, peanut butter on toast, model trains, scotch mints, and strawberry marshmallow candies.
Above all, Jim was a proud papa to six grandchildren: Grace, Owen, Madisyn, Lucy, Oliver, and Logan. His patience, fun spirit, and deep love for his grandkids were evident in everything he did. He was a constant presence on the sidelines of their games, cheering them on and treating them to candy after the game. He loved spoiling them at Christmas, teasing them at dinner, and camping with them on weekends.
Jim’s greatest priority in life was his family, and his love for them will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. His family is his legacy, and they will carry his memory with them forever. Jim is survived by his wife, Cindy; his sons, Shawn and Matt; and his cherished grandchildren, Grace, Owen, Madisyn, Lucy, Oliver, and Logan.
Jim will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.

Cindy, I just heard of Jim’s passing today. I am so sorry for everyone’s loss. When Mom and Dad would take us all in to Uncle Gordon’s and Aunty Beas, Jim would always put me on his shoulders. He was always making me laugh. Please know I am thinking of you and your family.
