PETERSON, Maria

PETERSON, Maria passed peacefully away in Kelowna on Wednesday March 14th,2018 at the age of 80 years. She was predeceased by her first husband Santo Gioia and her second husband Walter Peterson and an infant child Sandy; brothers John, Tilio and Silvio. Maria is survived by her children Teresa (Tom) Spencer, Guy (Helen) Gioia and Franca (Bill) Daley, Vince Cathy) Peterson, Karen (Pete) Shane; grandchildren Sandy, Jason, Adam, Victoria, Ashley, Sean, Christine, Danny, Michael, Sherry, Michael, Kenny, Jennifer, Ryan, Charmaine and Billy; numerous great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends. She is also survived by her sister Alba and brother Tony. Maria spent 50 years of service to St. Theresa

Dear Franca,

I saw your mom every Monday at May-Bennett. Every time I would ask about you and Bill and Victoria your mom's face would light up. She loved how good all of you were doing. I'm so sorry I missed her funeral, I didn't know when or where it was.

Maria's family, I am so saddened to hear about Maria. She really was a very special lady. I loved all the Christmas goodies she would bake for me, and of course always remember the walnuts that Walter would shell for me. What a courageous fight she gave and of course her family was there supporting her every minute of the day. I know there will be an ache in your hearts missing her.

Best woman and neighbour ever. She was like a Grandma to me when my family moved to Kelowna.

Franca, Teresa and Guy our thoughts are with all of you and your families.

Maria was all about family and wore her heart on her sleeve. She was the go to in our family. I thank her for all she's given us over the years.

I've always admired her strong will. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her very much.

So sorry to hear of your loss. We played cards years back with Maria & Walter and always had lots of laughs. They were great hosts and always had lots to eat for their friends & guests.
