Robert Perra
May 31, 1959 - May 3, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Bob Perra. Despite his healthy lifestyle, Bob suffered a heart attack and was found to have had severe heart disease. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughters Chloe (Derek) and Kelsey (Gord), sister Abby (Arthur), and many beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was sadly predeceased by his parents and his sister Sally. Bob grew up in Saskatchewan before moving to Vernon, BC as a teenager. He attended BCIT (Diploma Mechanical Engineering,1980) where he met Betty. He worked as a mechanical engineering technologist, primarily in the heavy truck industry. He had a passion for all things mechanical and was later perplexed to discover his daughters did not share this passion. Bob was a kind man, devoted to his immediate and extended family. He always prioritized the needs of others over his own and would do anything for those he cared for. Bob was an extraordinary father, who encouraged his daughters to be self-sufficient while supporting them unconditionally. He loved the outdoors and shared that passion with his family, creating many memories of camping trips, outdoor cycling adventures, cross-country skiing, and many mountainous hikes. Cycling, however, became his greatest passion. He enjoyed the ride, the people he met, and the coffee that followed. Always striving to push himself, he was proud of completing several triathlons and many epic bike rides, including the Mallorca 312 in 2017. He was planning his next challenge, a 1200 km multi-day trip through the Rockies.
A celebration of life is planned for June 4, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The venue has now been confirmed and the service will be held at Kelowna Brewing Company. Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome to do so. Please contact the family with any questions at [email protected]
