PEDERSEN, Iven

PEDERSEN, Iven

Iven Anker Pedersen passed away peacefully January 28, 2019 at the age of 99 --- and a half, we would say, at Monashee Mews, Lumby, BC.
Iven was born in Denmark July 21, 1919 and came to Canada at the age of six with his parents and two sisters. They settled on a farm in Dahinda Saskatchewan. There, two more sisters were born.
Iven married Evelyn Robinson of Dahinda before deploying overseas. He was enlisted with the South Saskatchewan Regiment and left for World War ll.
Upon returning home from the war, their child Lynne was born on April 28, 1946.
Iven worked as a heavy duty mechanic all his life and the family ended up in Regina, SK where he worked for Minneapolis Moline and became a Service Manager for the company.
After retirement, Ev and Iven moved to Vernon, BC to be close to family. Many good times were had with friends and family. Travelling to Hawaii was at the top of their list, which they did many times.
Iven is predeceased by his wife Ev in 1994; brother-in-law Roy Robinson; sisters and brother-in-laws Del (Cal), Dot (Dave), Kay (John) and Gen (Al). Iven leaves behind his daughter Lynne and husband Chuck of Cherryville, BC; grandson Robert Frerichs (Nicole) of Calgary, AB, and granddaughter Jacqueline Tapia (Alin) of Port Coquitlam, BC; Great grandchildren Alejandro and Evangeline Tapia, Chase Frerichs, Chantell Berndt and Jocelyn Neaves (Devan). Great-great grandchildren Olivia, Hunter, and Mason Berndt and many nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law Dorothy Robinson.

I remember Iven when they lived in Dahinda. They were friends with my mom and dad and were regular visitors at our farm. I am sorry for your loss.

Lynne I worked with your Dad at Minneapolis Equipment in Regina starting in 1973. We worked together for about 15 years, Good Guy. I was 23 years old so we were young guys working with a fellow 25 years older than us,so we called him 'Ole Iven' but not to his face. Favorite expression was as I recall (Ya Know ). Well boys, it's time to clean up the shop on Friday about 4;00 pm and after that we will have 'whoopy hour' clear the air of problems of the week and go home to our families.

It seems to me that as life goes by us all, if someone thinks of us fondly once in a while and smiles we done our job in life.

Alvin Meyers, who also worked with your Dad is who let me know of his passing, he is in Mesa for the winter.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
