PAWLITSKY, Marcel Stanley

PAWLITSKY, Marcel Stanley

On January 26, 2019, Marcel Stanley Pawlitsky, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 83. Having suffered the effects of a series of strokes over the past few years, he passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family.

Marcel leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Lena (Lee) Pawlitsky (nee Kohut), son Wayne (Debby) Pawlitsky, daughter Wendy (Rockne) Egnatios, grandchildren Sarah (Josh), Evan, and Isabella, extended family Aislyn and her children Quinncy and Ryker, and Ashley (Joe), as well as his younger sister Nadia Dudar of Dauphin, MB. He was predeceased by nine of his siblings.

Marcel was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba, on August 10, 1935, to Stanley and Nellie Pawlitsky. He was one of 11 children. After growing up on a farm in Sclater and realizing farming wasn't his thing, he moved to Winnipeg, where he met Lena Kohut. They married, and later moved with their two young children to Kelowna, BC in 1965. Marcel was a printer by trade, employed by The Kelowna Capital News for over 30 years. A lover of country music, he was a musician, playing rhythm guitar in several bands, including The Mike Domish Orchestra (Winnipeg), The Green Valley Boys, and OK Country in Kelowna. He loved to travel, visiting Hawaii numerous times, Fiji, The Cook Islands, and the USA. Favourite activities included camping throughout BC and western USA, and boating on the Okanagan Lake, with family and friends. From time to time, he may or may not have come home with an unannounced new car and/or puppy (Trixie and Chimo). He also may or may not have enjoyed a beer or two. His greatest gift was his love for his family. It was always fun to see how quickly the tears of joy would build up whenever he was with his grandkids. He will be incredibly missed.

A celebration of Marcel's life will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to any charity of your choosing. The family would like to thank the physicians and nurses at KGH for their care and compassion.

Such pleasant memories of working with Marcel at the Capital News. I was still in high school, and Marcel's patience and humor made a dirty job fun. Will always remember the late run every Wednesday, made more enjoyable by joining Marcel for a burger from the Willow mid-shift.

    Sincere condolences.
