PARKER, Gertrude (Trudy) Ann

PARKER, Gertrude (Trudy) Ann

July 6th, 1939 - November 10th, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Gertrude (Trudy) Ann Parker on November 10th, 2023, in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. She was 84 years young. She had lived in Armstrong for 48 years.

Trudy was born on July 6th, 1939 to George and Tetje Reitsma In Lacombe, Alberta. She grew up in the little town of Bentley, Alberta, along with her four brothers and three sisters.

Trudy met her husband, Don, of 60 years, in Bentley, Alberta. They were married August 2nd, 1957 in Vernon, BC. In 1975, they purchased property in Armstrong, on Schubert Road. Ever since then, it was called “home". Don passed away in 2017.

Trudy was survived by her oldest son, Perry and Gail (d.2018) Parker and his family; Trish & Mike Snell and their boys, Caelen and Lochlan, Brandi & Scott MacDonald and their girls, Brianna and Savannah and Shane Parker. Her daughter, Terry & Mike Paull and their family; Chantelle & Scott Pshyk and their daughter, Kinley, Melea & Kevin Lindsay, and Jonathan & Alison Paull and their children, Isla and Nolan. Her youngest son, Rick Parker and his daughter, Elissa & Brock Allen and their family, Zak, Rhett and Quinn.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren affectionately referred to her as “Nanny”. In her senior years, she always had a blue or purple splotch of colour amongst her grey hair. Trudy loved visiting with family, friends and relatives either in person, on the telephone and in recent years, through FaceTime. Christmas was her favourite holiday. She loved to wear pyjamas & housecoats because they were "so comfortable".

In the spring, a gathering and a memorial tree planting will take place in memory of Trudy.

Aunty Trudy was loved by us all in the Don Reitsma family. Words cannot express the grief at losing her and the gratitude we have for the time we spent together. Here laugh would make anyone smile and her vivid stories of past friends and the Okanagan in general were amazing. They will remain in our hearts and minds for as long as we live. Our deepest heartfelt condolences and love to all of the Parker family on the loss of such a wonderful mother and "Nanny". May the Lord grant you peace and serenity knowing she is once again with Uncle Don. - Don Reitsma
