PAISLEY QC, Ross Walkerdine

PAISLEY QC, Ross Walkerdine

Ross led a distinguished life for 93 years. Born to Walter and Mary Paisley in Clarkston, Ontario, Ross was a scholar from an early age, graduating at the age of 17, continuing his passion for the piano, studied at the University of Pittsburgh for a short time before enlisting in the Canadian Armed Forces where he became a Lieutenant in a Canadian commando unit. Ross went on to study law at the University of Alberta. Working his way through law school, Ross was a true entertainer, playing piano in many solo and band concerts. This is also when Ross met and married Shirley Ann Lorraine Maher. The couple had four children – Mary (Claire), Richard (Donna), James (Holly), Susan (Allen). The family moved around Alberta and BC following Ross’s career which included a period as a lawyer in private practice, the role of Chief Crown Prosecutor, corporate lawyer with Canadian Pacific, Deputy Attorney General of Alberta, where he served for almost a decade, then off to Public Utility Board of Alberta before finally retiring. With passion for music Ross also had a desire for farming which he pursued after his retirement. Ross and Shirley started a fruit, nut and berry farm close to Salmon Arm, BC. Shirley passed away shortly after the couples 55th wedding anniversary. Never losing site of his love of music, Ross performed many concerts and ballet performances. Eventually Ross met and fell in love with Susan Lawrence, and the couple married in 2013. They enjoyed many transatlantic trips over the years, kept active in the community and spent the last few years in the Penticton and Kelowna area. Ross was a mentor not only to his loving children but also his step son Derek (Karen), 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. We will forever miss his quick wit, unfiltered advice and warmth that defined the pillar of our family. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at Kelowna General Hospital, the paramedics and Staff at Regency Summerwood for their compassionate care. Private memorial and celebration of life will take place in Spring. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.everdenrust.com 250-860-6440
