NORTON, Richard "Dick"

NORTON, Richard

January 30, 1934 - September 7, 2022

Dick Norton passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022. He leaves a legacy through his family: his three daughters & their husbands, Donna & Darryl Jost, Jan & Rob Rauter, and Margo & Russ Wideman; his nine grandchildren; and his 13 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. His memory will also be carried on by his sister & brother-in-law, Marlene & Rudy Balzer; his numerous nieces and nephews; and his many dear friends. He will be missed dearly by his sweetie, Elaine Fisher, and her family. He goes to join those who have gone on this journey before him, his wife Barbara; his granddaughter Kerri Gabbana; and his sister and brother-in-law Diane & John Currie.

His loved ones will cherish memories of him forever, such as his famous waffles, and how on Christmas morning he made them for the entire family; his loving and caring ways; and how very funny he was.

The family would like to thank the paramedic supervisor, the first responders, and the KGH emergency staff. They would also wish to express their gratitude to Dr Joshua for the compassion and care that he provided.

No Service will take place at this time. Please raise your glass in honour of his memory!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Cancer Foundation, bccancerfoundation.com, or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, www.heartandstroke.ca.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Dick was such a character. He was our customer for 15 years and it was always a pleasure to serve him and enjoy his visits. I will certainly be raising a glass or two of our finest red wine in his memory.

He will be sadly missed. Condolences to all the family.

Your dad was an amazing man who loved his family so deeply. I hope in time when you think of him it will bring a smile to your face as you remember all those precious moments you shared. - Wendy Ruggeri and Family

I fondly remember Mr. Norton taking such good care of Margo when she broke her foot … bringing her to work each day, picking her up and always smiling and saying hi while walking past my desk to Margo’s. It was obvious he was a very caring father with a wonderful smile and good humour. He thoughtfully gifted me a beautiful coat for reasons that made me proud to receive it. I’m sure he’ll be missed by many. - Dixie
