NORTH, Dorothy Agnes

NORTH, Dorothy Agnes

In Loving memory of Dorothy Agnes North (nee Noseworthy) of Kelowna, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 2018. She leaves behind the love of her life Peter North to whom she was married for 39 years. Much loved mother of Kevin (Linda) and Henry (Paulette) of Ottawa. Predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Twocock (Warren) of Vancouver. Stepmother to Susan, of London, England, Andrew (Debbie) of Toronto and Holly North of Victoria.
Dorothy was a grandmother of six and great-grandmother to one.
Born in Montreal, QC, to parents Walter and Agnes Noseworthy, Dorothy was also predeceased by her cherished sister Claire Coffey (Toronto) and first husband Ted Kinsella (Winnipeg).
After upgrading her education, Dorothy had a very successful career as an Executive Secretary, even being featured on the cover of her professional magazine. She was strong and talented, but always so willing to listen and so very giving. To all who knew her, Dorothy was an amazing lady with a kind and gentle heart, who thought of the needs of others, before her own. She had the knack of easily making friends, by putting a person at ease. On retirement Dorothy devoted her time to her family, her church and volunteering. This included her work as a volunteer at the Kelowna General Hospital in the Cancer Centre, that ended only when circumstances beyond her control no longer permitted her to continue. Retiring from volunteer work was the second most difficult time of her life!
The family wishes to acknowledge the nurses and staff of Spring Valley Care Home (Park Place Seniors Living) for their care and attentiveness to Dorothy over the past few years and thank them for providing a safe and secure home.
In the absence of immediate family being in Kelowna, a very special thank you to Pete and Gaynor who are very close friends of the family, for their dedicated support and assistance to Dorothy and Peter North over the past three years and during a time of decline in their health.
Church Service to be held at The Cathedral Church of St. Michael & All Saints, 608 Sutherland Avenue Kelowna, on Friday the 2nd of February 2018, at 1:00 pm. A reception will be held in the church hall afterwards and everyone is invited to attend for food, refreshment and companionship.
Donations to the Kelowna General Hospital Cancer Centre, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com. Arrangements entrusted with First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna. 250-762-2299
