MUSSELL, Hilary "Jay"

MUSSELL, Hilary

February 26, 1939 - July 19, 2020

Hilary "Jay" Mussell passed away on July 19, 2020. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 26, 1939, to Alexander "Sandy" and Josephine "Jo" Bain. At the age of eleven, Jay immigrated to British Columbia with her parents and two sisters.

Jay is survived by her loving husband Charles "Chuck" and five children Heather (Dave) Jackson, Rose (Pat) Hedrich, Maureen Morton, Gordon and Glen; as well as her two sisters Sandra Venn and Veda (Don) Dearborn. She had five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Until Jay could no longer travel she and Chuck would do a lot of camping in their RV. Many winters were spent in Mexico, they would collect clothing and school supplies to distribute to needy families in Mexico.

Jay will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be sadly missed.

Chuck and family, our deepest condolences are being sent your way. As the days and months follow we hope your grief can shift to fond family memories.

In looking back today, we spoke of a lovely lady who opened her arms, heart and home to follow immigrants as we pioneered our way to a new Canadian lifestyle. We always felt a “family” warmth when Jay was in our presence. We will always recall fun camping days together, and the early days “on the road”.

Sending you lots of love and peace.

Keith Preece, Louise & Richard Gauthier.
