MUNROE, Thomas Edward

MUNROE, Thomas Edward

On Thursday November 25th, 2021, Thomas Edward Munroe passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 82. He was a devoted husband and father to seven children and he will be deeply, profoundly missed.

Tom was born on March 10th, 1939 in Toronto, ON, to Philip and Esther Munroe. He grew up in ‘The Beach’ with siblings Roger, Maxine, Linda and Esther and fondly spoke about his years playing at ‘The Dump” and basketball throughout high school at a center height of 6’ 6. Tom originally owned a car dealership in Wiarton, ON, proudly named Munroe Motors, but later went on to become a letter carrier with Canada Post. This led to a transfer and move to Kelowna, BC in 1994 where he made several life long friends over his 35+ year career.

Tom had an incredible sense of humour, deep laugh and extraordinary singing voice. He loved spending his evenings sitting out on the patio looking at his world-class view, listening to golden oldies and enjoying a cold brew.

Tom was pre-deceased by his parents, and infant son, Danny. Survived by his loving wife, Jennifer and children Jim (Amelia), Jen (Kevin; Luke, Cyrus and Dylan), Steve (Renee; Lochlan and Seth), Vanessa, Jacqueline (Dustin; Jasper) and Andrew (Britney).

A celebration of life will be held on the 12th of December from 1-4 pm. If you want to join in person or virtually, please email [email protected] for further details.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Central Okanagan Hospice House https://kghfoundation.crowdchange.co/14593/donate or the BC Cancer Society https://donate.bccancerfoundation.com/site/Donation2?df_id=8204&mfc_pref=T&8204.donation=form1

Dear Jennifer. I also had the PLEASURE of working with Tom & you too for a short while at Canada Post. He truly was a Gentle Giant and worked quietly in the background to advocate for his fellow workers. I believe that's what kept working well into his 70's. During December it seemed he always had an Endless supply of Chocolate Turtles at his work station. So I'm going to buy a box & a bottle :) Look out over the Lake and say Cheers! Debbie H.

    My condolences, Jennifer.
I always enjoyed Tom's sense of humour at work.
Unfortunately, we all seem to drift apart after retirement but the memores we have of working together remain strong.
I'll miss running into Tom every time I go to Costco......seems like we saw each other there more than at the Okanagan Delivery Center !
He was a nice guy and will certainly be missed.
