MUENZ, Steven

MUENZ, Steven

Mar. 22, 1949 - July 14, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steve Muenz. He passed away peacefully surrounded by love.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Sandi and daughters, Caitlin (Chad) & Devon, his precious grandson Ben, sister Ellen (Stan), sister-in-law Linda (Don), nephews David (Marni) and Philip. We want to thank our "friend family" for the unwavering love and support they gave Steve and us through his courageous battle. Steve's greatest joy was spending time with his family and hearing Ben giggle like only Ben can.
He had a lifetime of volunteer work with the Jaycees and then the Lions Club where he dedicated much of his time fulfilling the needs of others.
He was an Engineer with the City of Kelowna for 25 years.
Steve will be sorely missed by many.
The family wants to thank the BC Cancer Agency for the excellent care that they provided him, specifically, Dr. Dueck and his staff. We also want to thank the wonderful nursing staff of KGH 6 West and Hospice House for the kind and attentive care that Steve received.
Memorial service and reception will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, Steve would appreciate donations to the Lions Dog Guides Program at www.dogguides.com

Dear Sandi, Caitlin and Devon ~ our hearts are saddened as we read of your loss! Our memories of Steve are still vivid as he worked the paper routes back in the day with the girls and we often saw him riding his bike around the Mission. Such a sweet kind gentle spirit he possessed and that we saw too in Devon when she was growing up and still saw when we saw her in the last few years at A1! Sending you our deepest sympathy and big hugs!

I had the pleasure of working with Steve since I started in the planning business in 1992. I was young and green and he was always patient and kind. That amount of time naturally evolves into a relationship of mutual trust and respect and I am honoured to have called Steve a friend. My heart hurts for you and your family Sandi. Thinking of you with a heavy heart.

    My sincere sympathy,

    Dear Sandi and family,

I am so sorry for your loss. So many thoughts pop into my head when I think about Steve. Every night when I walked out the back door of City Hall and he would be in his office and we would say good night. All those times he would buy "the girls" special treats on special days. They would be the fanciest pastry the bakery made. Working the municipal elections with both of you. Steve was always so calm and unflappable. I am truly going to miss him. I will be out of town on Friday but know you will be in my thoughts.

    Sandi,

Our best wishes to you and your family and sorry to lose such good friend in Steve.

The first thing that comes to my mind every time I think of Steve or we would talk is about the day he accepted the job in Development services and leaving Engineering. I told him that he would never last six months in that job. Boy was I wrong but this was Steve and I's on going joke between us all through these years and always had a good laugh about we when talked. We still celebrated each others birthdays with a call to each other that donuts were available even though we were in different departments. Steve was a really great friend and was always a happy and go lucky guy.

    All the best Sandy,

    Rod & Ivy Allin
