Obituaries

MORSE: Catherine Doreen, nee McGuckin, passed away after a long illness, May 19, 2023, in Kelowna, BC. Catherine was born on April 3, 1936 in Vancouver BC. She attended Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary, St Patrick’s High School and graduated as a Registered Nurse from St Paul’s Hospital in 1957. Catherine married John Hugh Morse in 1959. They were married 53 years and had 5 children. The family moved often with the Royal Canadian Navy and through this Catherine made numerous lifelong friends. In 1972 they settled in Clearbook, BC. Catherine began a career with the Correctional Services of Canada retiring as a Chief Medical Officer. Catherine was predeceased by her parents James and Eleanor, husband John, infant son Craig and brother James “Bede”. She is survived by her children Stuart and Gigi Morse, Pamela and Ray Paterson, Brian and Lalita Morse and David and Debbie Morse. 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Joan McGuckin as well as nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, Burnaby, BC. Nephew, Reverend Mark McGuckin, celebrant . Date and time to be determined. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
