MCGUINNESS (NEE GRUBB), Geraldine Joyce

MCGUINNESS (NEE GRUBB), Geraldine Joyce

In loving memory to Mom who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 19th, 2020.

Born in Regina (January 30, 1935), Gerry was about as passionate and energetic in her interests as anybody could be. Her love of people, politics, reading, painting, learning, and sharing her interests with others was infectious. Her smile warmed every room she ever walked into, and her gentle loving nature and warm embrace held the heart of her children, friends and many who called her their “second mom”.

She is survived by her two children Dina Kotler (nee McGuinness) and Greg McGuinness, and her sister Noelle Vogel, her two grandchildren, Brandon James McGuinness, and Amarnie Faith McGuinness.

Mom had a full and adventurous life that spanned the continents of North America, Australia and Africa.

She began her working career teaching at the Jericho School for Deaf and Blind Children in Vancouver, but spent most of her professional life as a bookkeeper & property manager for among others, dad’s (Bill McGuinness’) photographic studios, an Australian Mining Company and Abbey Glenn. In later years she and dad ran a very successful delicatessen in Perth and had a successful Guest House on Vancouver Island before retiring to the Okanagan in 2007.

She was one of the sweetest souls, always giving of herself to others. We were so very blessed to call her 'mom'

We miss your smile, your quiet presence, your popping by, the barrage of email that filled our inboxes almost daily, and being able to talk to you about anything and everything under the sun...

Forever in our hearts.

Rest In Peace Mom.
