MARTENS, Wilhelm

MARTENS, Wilhelm

August 18, 1935 - May 16, 2023

Wilhelm passed away peacefully in Kelowna on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife Helena. They would have been married for 64 years in June of this year. Also mourning his passing are his children: Bernie, Julie (Konrad), Pete, Willie (Sheryl), Abe (Alicia), Johan (Debbie), Jake (Elisa), Arnold (Johanna), Corny (Jamie), and Judy; 25 grandchildren (and one to be born in September); 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers George (Anne), Frank (Anne); two sisters Tina (John) and Sarah; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his extended family and many dear friends. He was sadly predeceased by his youngest daughter Bettina in November of 2022 and several of his siblings.

Wilhelm was born in Mexico on August 18, 1935. Wilhelm enjoyed the open road during his many years of truck driving. He worked and raised his family in Mexico until coming to Canada in the spring of 1981. He also enjoyed woodworking and spending time lovingly tending his incredible garden. Weeds were never welcome in his yard and caring for his fruit trees brought him peace and serenity. He enjoyed his country gospel, bluegrass, and his mariachi music very much. He will be missed more than words can say.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Mission Springs Church of God, 3705 Mission Springs Drive, Kelowna, BC. Interment to follow at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society, www.mscanada.ca.
