LEY, Thomas Clayton

LEY, Thomas Clayton

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Clayton Ley. Tom was born on September 3, 1951 and passed away on May 6, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Tom is survived by his loving partner, Tammy, beloved son and daughter, Clayton and Lindsay, siblings Richard, Vivian (Dan), Michael (Bonnie), and Marlene (Francis), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tom is predeceased by his father, David, and mother, Gertrude.

Tom had a beautiful smile that lit up his surroundings and a charismatic personality that drew people to him. Exceedingly generous, hardworking, full of life, and compassionate, Tom put the needs of others before his own.

Tom enjoyed sports, the outdoors, cars and motorcycles from a young age. In his later years, he was passionate about his motorcycle group and the guys he rode with.

Tom loved growing up in Oyama and then raising his own family there. His farm, orchard, RV Park, and own Bobcat Excavating business were his pride. Tom was a Cub Scout leader for several years, a lifelong member of the Oyama Legion, a member of the Oyama Community Club, and a volunteer on the Oyama Cemetery Committee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Variety-Childrens Charity of BC, The War Amps, BC Childrens Hospital, or Lake Country Food Assistance Society.
A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 2pm at the Oyama Community Hall, 15710 Oyama Road, Oyama, BC. Reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to CYPRESS FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES ® Lake Country 250-766-4400, Vernon 250-558-0866 & Armstrong 250-546-7237

The news hit our home hard. Another friend, or uncle, we have to say goodbye to.makes us all squeeze our loved ones a little tighter. Mouldy was gift and always the happiest guy in the room.... always a big "hey little girl" and his chuckle. He was so special to this community and to each and every person lucky enough to have had him in their lives. Missed but another one that will never be gone. He left his Trac marks all over this oyama soil and he is one of the main threads of the fabric of this community. Love you Tom and love to all those hurting with this loss. - Bobbi Davidson

Our Condolences to the Ley Family,

Over the years I have spent many days with Tom, We spanned the time between grade one and retirement with a friendship and working relationship that had virtually no bad days. "Mouldy" had a Tee shirt that said "I yam who I yam" and he pretty much lived up to it...... Rest in peace buddy.......

We are so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. We had hoped that he would beat that horrible disease. Soft spoken Tom was always pleasant to anyone he met. In all the years I have known him I never heard him utter a disparaging word towards anyone. He will be missed by all who knew him. A good old Oyama boy who lived his life the way he chose.
