Lang, James Williamson
Oct. 14, 1931—Dec.24, 2021
Jim passed away peacefully on Dec.24, 2021 at the age of 90. He will be sadly missed by his Son Corrie (Lisa); Daughter Cindy (Colin); Grandchildren Kaleigh, Ashlyn, Allison, Thomas and Alexa. Great grandchildren Ryder and Sienna. Jim is predeceased by his wife Lillian (February 2019) and his brother Norman. Jim was born in Sarnia Ontario and worked on the oil freighters on the St. Lawrence before joining the American Army. After the war he moved out west in 1957 and met his bride Lillian in Calgary.
Jim was a paratrooper in the American Army and a member of the 187th ARCT( Airborne Regimental Combat Team) He made a combat jump in the Korean war and four more in Japan. His continued love for jumping, out of perfectly working aircraft, continued until he was 78 years old. During that time he accumulated over 720 jumps, not all static line but earned the ability to free fall as well. He also learned to fold his own chute, told me once when I asked him why he wanted to learn how to pack his own chute he replied, “If my chute fails to open he doesn’t want the person that packed it to feel guilty, if it doesn’t open it’s on me” My dad made many jumps in many different countries, usually with the special forces of those countries. He is a proud Korean War Veteran and a proud Canadian.
