KORMENDI, Sandor "Alex"


Passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 30th, 2017 at his home.

Sandor is survived by his daughters Kamilla and Csilla, Son; Zoltan. Sandor is also survived by his sister Erika in Hungary as well as many nieces and nephews in Hungary. Predeceased by his loving wife, Marta Kormendi, his father Jozef of Hungary and his mother, Terez of Hungary.

Sandor came to Canada from Hungary in 1989 and worked extremely hard as a new immigrant on the Canadian Pacific Rail in Revelstoke, British Columbia and Medicine Hat, Alberta when initially landing in Canada. he and his wife, Marta met in Calgary and moved to Kelowna in 1990. Sandor worked for the Kelowna Daily Courier for over 20 years as a delivery driver. In the early 2000's he was a long time employee of the Mediterranean Market - a lot of the employees at the Mediterranean Market treated him like family. Sandor had a love for spending time with his family and would often go to various parks and camped around British Columbia with his family. He also had a passion for Wrestlemania/WWE and would never miss a single pay per view episode. His children will greatly miss his jolly laugh, smile, how he always put everybody before himself and had the right words to say if you were feeling down.

A funeral service will be held on Monday January 15th, 20018 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Everden Rust Funeral Services, 1910 Windsor Road, Kelowna.

    Saddned to hear the news.... Zolten and family I hope you're hanging in strong, remembering all the great memories Alex shared. He was the most friendliness person always with a smile.

    Kamillia, Csilla & Zoltan I'm deeply saddened to hear of your dad's passing. Alex was always smiling, friendly and always had the biggest hug for you. I worked with him at The Courier years ago.     So sorry to see that Alex has passed away. He was a great addition to the Daily Courier. He always had a big hug for everyone as he passed through the mail room.

    Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I met your Dad years ago through Mickey and every time I saw him we talked or said hello, he was a very nice man.
