KNERR, Alice

KNERR, Alice

Alice Knerr
Alice Elaine Dragoo Knerr was a long time resident of Kelowna, British Columbia. She was welcomed to her heavenly home on November 10, 2021, at 87 years old.
Alice was born in South Dakota on October 3, 1934. Her family moved to Iowa where she attended high-school and college. As a young graduate of teacher’s college, she moved to Lewistown, Montana, where she met and married her rancher husband, Ellery Knerr in 1958. In 1972, the family moved to rural British Columbia and enjoyed their growing family and farm life. Alice and Ellery moved to Kelowna, BC in 1987 where they resided for their remaining years.
Alice was happiest when surrounded by her family whom she loved to tease and hug. She had a very green thumb and loved to be barefoot in her garden, trying new varieties of lilies, iris and tomatoes. She loved the farm life, especially her goats, chickens and cats. Alice was also a crafter and left many unfinished projects for her children to take care of. Alice loved her Lord Jesus and was a faithful member of the Fellowship Gospel Assembly in Kelowna.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ivy Dragoo; sister, Lily Kerns; brother, Thomas Dragoo; and husband, Ellery Knerr in 2003. She is survived by her sister, Betty Smallen and her children: Lawrence Knerr (Larry); Jonathon Knerr and wife, Elly; Daniel Knerr; Anne Meldrum; Judith Walthers and husband, Dave; and Katherine Streit and husband, Mark. Alice also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Justin Stranack, Nathan Knerr, Jesse Cullen, David Geronazzo, Michael Geronazzo, Alyssa Walthers, Gabrielle Walthers, Odelle Walthers, Samuel Streit, and Benjamin Streit, and 7 great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to the staff at Mission Creek Landing for their compassion and kindness as they cared for Alice in her final days.
Alice was beloved by many and will be remembered for her legacy of compassion, humor, and faith.
An outdoor memorial for Alice will be held in Kelowna, BC at a later date.

To Alice's Family, I always enjoyed seeing Alice at the Rutland Library. I met her there and also some of her children and grandchildren. I will always remember the day she told me "not to get old as the golden years are really RUST!" I still smile every time I think of it, which is when I'm reading a Large Print book. Thinking of you all at this time. Sheila Coe
